Bronze in London
30 July, 2012
Rebecca won an Olympic Bronze Medal in the 400m Freestyle last
night and immediately declared her delight at winning a medal at a
home Games.
"It is just unbelievable, not many people can say they have won
a medal at a home Games. I had to be careful when I came out - of
course you can hear the noise but I didn't dare look up. The event
and the emotion can take it out of you. I didn't want to get
overwhelmed by it.
"It does definitely set me up," she said. "It is all very, very
encouraging. I know the 800m is going to be a fight and I'm going
to have to fight like hell to get a medal, exactly like I did
today. Hopefully I can repeat that performance."
Rebecca defends her 800m Freestyle Olympic crown on Friday night
in what will be one of the most anticipated races of the entire
Olympiad.
